The Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) on Friday hiked the power tariff in the city by five percent, reports said.
The revised tariff will be in effect from Aug 1.
The revised rates will lead consumers who use upto 200 unit, to now pay Rs. 3.90, Rs. 5.80 for 201-400 and Rs. 7 per unit for 800 or more.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal had earlier this year held an indefinite fast to protest against rising electricity and water prices in Delhi.
In February this year, he had targeted Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit as he exposed the alleged nexus between the Delhi government and private power distribution companies.
