The Delhi gang rape trial is likely to being on Thursday at a south Delhi court with the police submitting a 1000-page chargesheet against the six accused, media reports said.
Once the metropolitan magistrate´s court takes cognizance of the case, it will be transferred to a fast-track court that was inaugurated by India´s Chief Justice Altamas Kabir on Wednesday.
The court will hold daily hearing in this case and have no adjournments.
Six people have been accused of raping and brutalizing a 23-year-old medical student in a moving bus. The victim succumbed to her injuries at a Singapore hospital on December 29. One of the accused is reportedly a minor.
Five of the accused are currently lodged in Tihar Jail, while the sixth is at a juvenile home. Reports said they will not be present in court on Thursday.
