Panaji, Feb 11 (BNS) BJP's once loyal soldier Vijay Pai Khot has left the party after he was denied renomination to contest the 2012 Goa elections.
Khot, also resigned as a legislator Friday.
Speaking to reporters after tendering his resignation to Speaker Pratapsing Rane at the Goa Assembly Complex, Khot said he was disappointed over the party not giving him ticket to contest Canacona seat.
"The party has betrayed the people of Goa while distributing tickets for the polls," he said.
After delimitation of Assembly segments, Canacona and Poinguinim constituencies, both represented by BJP MLAs, were merged into one constituency - Canacona.
The saffron party has renominated tribal leader and Poinguinim MLA Ramesh Tawadkar to contest Canacona seat.
Khot is likely to join Congress and contest from the same constituency.
