Kolkata/New Delhi, Feb 20 (IBNS) The Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is probing into the incident of a 42-year-old differently-abled woman being offloaded from a SpiceJet flight from Kolkata to Goa on Sunday after the pilot found her "unfit to fly".

Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh on Monday told reporters that they have asked SpiceJet to explain the incident and see what action can be taken.

"DGCA is also enquiring it," he said.

Jeeja Ghosh, who is a teacher at Kolkata´s Indian Institute of Cerebral Palsy, was shocked when she was offloaded as the pilot did not allow her to fly alone.

Ghosh had earlier flown alone and is a frequent flier. She had also lived in UK all by herself as a student, reports said. She is a double MA.

Jeeja Ghosh said she was surprised when even after boarding the plane she was asked to be offloaded by the pilot Utprabh Tiwari.

She now wants action against the pilot.

Meanwhile, SpiceJet has issued a statement apologising the incident and assuring an internal investigation and subsequent action.

Ironically, Jeeja Ghosh was to attend a conference in Goa where she was to speak on mainstreaming the differently-abled.
