Congress General Secretary Digvijaya Singh has compared the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to the Taliban.
"I am saying this because both are fundamentalist in nature and they want to take us back to the 18th century," Singh told reporters in Raghogarh, Madhya Pradesh on Sunday night.
The Congess leader was in Raghogarh to attend a meeting for Municipal elections when he took on the RSS, the ideological mentor of the main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
"..Only fundamentalists want to prescribe a dress code for women and by doing this they want to hide their own misbehaviour," he said, adding that the saffron outfit may soon want to ban jeans, computer and mobile phones for women.
Singh had earlier lashed out at RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat for saying that rapes happened only in "India" and not in "Bharat", indicating that he blamed urbanisation and westernisation for such crimes.
