
In an epic battle that lasted for four hours 50 minutes, Serbian Tennis star Novak Djokovic defeated Andy Murray of United Kingdom to book his date to face Rafael Nadal in the Australian Open final, here on Friday.
Both Murraya and Djokovic played their best shots to dominate the game but it was the Serbian player who sealed the victory by 6-3 3-6 6-7 6-1 7-5 margin.
The Rod Laver Arena witnessed a roller coaster ride where the match was dragged to five sets to decide the winner.
Djokovic hit 69 unforced errors in the match in comparison to the 86 hit by Murray.
The Serbian start won the first set but Murray gave a strong response by winning the next two sets of the match. Djokovic hit back hard in the last two sets and won both of it.
In fact, Djokovic played some thundering shots in the fourth set to defeat his beat hi opponent by 6-1 margin.
Earlier on Thursday, Rafael Nadal of Spain had defeated arch-rival Roger Federer of Switzerland to cruise into the final of the first grand slam event of the year.
