Google dedicates a doodle to MS- Internet giant Google honoured renowned Carnatic vocalist MS Subbulakshmi on her 97th birth anniversary with a doodle on its homepage.
Unquestionably one of the greatest exponents of Carnatic music, MS Subbulakshmi, or 'MS' to her fans, is an icon even to a younger generation brought up on fusion and rock music. MS is the first musician ever to be awarded the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honour.
Madurai Shanmukhavadivu Subbulakshmi was born in Madurai, Madras Presidency to veena player Shanmukavadiver Ammal and Subramania Iyer on 16 September 1916.
