New Delhi, Oct 5 (IANS) A Punjab Police officer, posted here, critically injured a youth after he fired with his service revolver at him and two others following an argument, police said. The accused, who was said to be drunk, has been arrested.
The incident was reported from Jai Mata market in north Delhi's Keshav Puram area Friday night.
Narendra opened fire on Arun, 22, his brother Himanshu and one of his friends when they had taken their pet for a walk after having their dinner, a police officer said.
Arun received two bullets in his chest and is battling for his life in a nearby hospital, while the other two escaped unhurt.
The accused tried to flee from the spot after committing the crime but was captured by some passers-by and was handed over to police.
Himanshu told police that Narendra, who was in inebriated state, approached them and asked about an address. Later he started forcing them to drop him to his house, he added.
"When Arun said no to Narendra, the police officer started abusing them and took out his pistol and fired, injuring him," said the officer.
A case has been registered against Narendra, who is deputed at Punjab Bhawan in Delhi, said the officer.
