Federation Cup champions East Bengal cruised into the knockout stage at the AFC Cup from Group H with 2-2 draw against Malaysian side Selangor FA played at Shah Alam Stadium in Malaysia on Tuesday.
The Kolkata side took lead in the 23rd minute with a left footed shot from Penn Orji, while Lalrindika Ralte doubled the score in the 54th minute of the Federation Cup winners.
But the hosts, who lost in the first leg from Ralte´ goal in Kolkata on Feb 27, rallied brilliantly and reduced the margin from Abdul Shukur Bin´s strike in the 79th minute.
They produced another stunning goal four minutes into the stoppage time (90+4) from Abid Aizuddin Bin to level the game.
East Bengal maintained the pole position with 11 points from five games and moved into the knock out rounds after 2004.
The Kolkata side are appearing in the AFC Cup for the seventh time, four in a row, but since they reached the quarter-finals on their debut in the competition in 2004, they have not managed to get past the group stage.
East Bengal would now host another strong contender Sai Gon Xuan Thanh of Vietnam at end of this month to complete the group fixture.
