Elderly woman found murdered in Delhi

New Delhi, Sep 10 (IANS) A 58-year-old divorced woman was found strangled to death inside her residence here, police said Monday.

The incident came to light Sunday in north Delhi's Lahori Gate area and the deceased has been identified as Geeta Nigam.

"After getting divorce from her husband, Nigam had been staying alone at the first floor of her residence. Her elder sister, who lives in the third floor of the same house, got suspicious after Geeta did not respond to the telephone. She came to check her and found her dead," said a police officer.

Some gold and cash were also found missing from the house.

"It seems that the victim was killed during robbery. A probe is on," said the officer.
