Elephant tramples woman in Assam

A women was trampled to death by wild elephants in Assam's Goalpara district on Sunday, police said.

Two wild elephants strayed from nearby forest in Meghalaya, damaged several houses at Kochpara village under Mornoi police station in the district and killed a 51 year-old woman named Rupti Koch.

"The woman was killed on spot and her house also damaged in elephants´ attack," a police official said.

Meanwhile, a carcass of a wild elephant calf was found at Koliapani in Gibbon wildlife sanctuary in Jorahat district on Sunday.
