Iconic Australian leg spinner Shane Warne feels that the current English side deserves to be the number one Test ranking side in the world.

"The current England side is very impressive - Trott in for Bopara and there is no weak link.. Variety in bowling and all batters in form," he remarked on Twitter.

"England deserve to be number 1 team in the world - they have a hunger, passion and play with an intensity - nice to watch them play," Warne tweeted.

England usurp India from the top of Test rankings with a crushing innings and 242 runs win in the third Test with a day to spare at the delirious Edgbaston here Saturday. England also took an unassailable 3-0 lead in the four-match series to end India´s 21 months stay at the top.

Warne feels that Indian side did not play up to their potentialities in this series.

"Feel for India - but also feel they have let themselves down-have not played with any desire or fight Hopefully they learn from this series," Warne tweeted.

Andrew Strauss's side had started the series in third position behind South Africa and trailing top ranked India by eight ratings points. To top the Championship table for the first time under the current ranking system, which was introduced in June 2003, England had needed to win the series by a 2-0 margin or better.

England accomplished its mission with enormous confidence and that too in great style when it won the first Test at Lord's by 196 runs, then doubled the lead with a convincing 319 runs victory at Trent Bridge before sealing the series at Edgbaston on Saturday.

ICC Chief Executive Haroon Lorgat, in complimenting the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and the England team, said: "On behalf of the ICC, I would like to congratulate Andrew Strauss, Andy Flower and the whole team for becoming the number-one ranked Test team in the world.
