Birmingham, Aug 13 (IBNS) Pulverizing the Indian bowlers, England rode on a spectacular 294 by Alastair Cook to notch up their highest total against India in Test scoring 710 for seven declared in their first innings of the Edgbaston match on Friday.
England thus took a mammoth 486 run lead at Edgbaston.
The previous highest of England against India was 653/4 declared at Lord´s in 1990.
Interesting it was Graham Gooch, who is now the batting coach of England, who had made possible with his bat the 1990 feat.
However, on Friday Cook missed his triple hundred after he fell at 294 though he with Eoin Morgan, who scored 104, contributed 222 for the fourth wicket.
Cook´s is the highest Test score by an English player in 21 years.
India losing Sehwag for a duck were 35 for one when the stumps were drawn for the day.
Following is the scorecard at the close on the third day of the third Test between England and India at Edgbaston.
