Former George W. Bush adviser Karen Hughes has threatened to 'cut out the tongue' of any Republican man who makes insensitive comments about rape like GOP lawmaker Todd Akin or failed Indiana Senate candidate Richard Mourdock.
Hughes lashed out particularly harshly against Republicans responsible for controversial remarks about rape and abortion.
"If another Republican man says anything about rape other than it is a horrific, violent crime, I want to personally cut out his tongue," Politico quoted her, as saying.
"The college-age daughters of many of my friends voted for Obama because they were completely turned off by Neanderthal comments like the suggestion of 'legitimate rape'," she added.
Her remarks came in an op-ed in Politico last week offering advice to the GOP in the wake of their defeats on Tuesday, which included Mourdock and Akin, who lost a bid for Missouri Senate.
Mourdock had sparked off controversy with his bizarre remarks on rape last month, saying when a woman becomes pregnant during a rape, 'that's something God intended.'
His comments come two months after embattled Missouri GOP Senate candidate Akin said that women's bodies have ways of preventing pregnancy in cases of what he called 'legitimate rape.' (ANI)
