Ex-Civil Aviation Secretary Zaidi appointed new Election Commissioner

Former civil aviation secretary Dr. Syed Nasim Ahmad Zaidi has been appointed as the new election commissioner, assuming the office vacated by V.S. Sampath, who took charge as the 18th Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), succeeding Dr. S.Y. Quraishi on June 11.

Dr. Zaidi superannuated from government service on July 31.

He had earlier worked as the Director-General of Civil Aviation, and was India's representative in the International Civil Aviation Organisation.

He was also the Joint Secretary in the Civil Aviation Ministry, and Commissioner of the Bareilly Development Authority. (ANI)
