Top internet giants Google India and Facebook on Monday told a Delhi court that they have scrapped the objectionable contents from their sites.
The contents allegedly made them accused of hosting "anti-religious´ and ´anti-social´ content that could trigger communal tension.
Facebook India on Monday also filed its compliance report before theDelhi court, media reports said.
Monday´s hearing was for a civil suit against 21 internet giants including Yahoo and Orkut.
The companies are also involved in a criminal case in another Delhi court. The companies are allegedly accused of cheating and conspiracy in this case.
Executives of the internet companies have been summoned to appear before the court on Mar 13.
The petitioner of the civil case that was heard by the court on Monday is Mufti Aizaz Arshad Kazmi. He had filed the suit in Dec.
Earlier, a local court had threatened the websites of internet giants Google and Facebook can be blocked if they are unable to find a way to remove objectionable contents.
