Facebook forum creates Kolkata Club cricket

Facebook based forum Kolkata Club Cricket Welfare Organization (KCCWO) on Monday announced the inauguration of the club formally along with felicitating former cricketers, umpires and groundsmen.

The body which is recently formed, has different club cricketers, people associated with Kolkata club cricket in different capacities and passionate cricket lovers of Bengal as members, who for the last three years created the forum for discussions about Bengal cricket on Facebook.

The club has over 1,000 members who also broadcast timely updates about Kolkata Club cricket matches, appreciate, recognize performances, provide a platform for debates and analysis, publish lifetime achievements of ex-Bengal cricketers and engage themselves in their limited capacity for the betterment of Bengal cricket.

The event was hosted to felicitate 4 Groundsmen with Rs 7,000, retired umpires named Atindra Nath Sinha and Achintya Nandi with a sum of Rs10,000 each, ex cricketers Sujit Bose and Amal Das with Rs 20,000 and some of the present performers of Bengal cricket with Rs.10,000 each.

President of KCCWO and a former official of BCCI, Gautam Dasgupta said " This is our endeavour to felicitate these personalities and groundsmen without whom we could never have played."

Former Test player Saradindu Mukherjee added, "We plan to hold more such events, extend help to women cricketers, organize seminars in schools and colleges as well as extend our support to other sports as well."
