Family of crashed MIG's missing pilot announces reward

New Delhi: The family of Squadron Leader Dharmendra Singh Tomar, who was flying the MiG-29 that crashed in Lahaul valley in Himachal Pradesh on October 18, have announced a cash reward of Rs 50,000 for anyone tracing the missing pilot.

"Its been nine days and there is no news of our brother. Indian Air Force (IAF) is conducting its search operation but we have announced a cash reward to seek the help of local people who are aware of the terrain," brother of Sq Ldr D S Tomar, Shailendra Singh Tomar told PTI.

The family has already deposited the money with the district administration, he said.

The family members, including the parents, of Sq Ldr Tomar, are camping at the Adampur air station, waiting for news from IAF's search and rescue party which has been on the mission since October 19.

Meanwhile, IAF Spokesperson here said the mission is still on but there is no news of the pilot.

"There is no news of the pilot but the mission is still on. Initially, snow fall and inclement weather had hampered the speed of the mission. But we have located the crash site and we are trying to put things together," he said here.
