A three-year-old female leopard was found dead in Corbett National Park.

Park officials said the leopard was killed by a male tiger.

The park is situated in Ramnagar district of Uttarakhand.

"This was a three year old female leopard and she was killed by a male tiger. There are foot marks near the body, the leopard's neck was broken and there was also an attempt to eat its rear portion. Such fights between leopards and tigers are common," said S.C. Upadhyay, a park official.

Corbett is the oldest national park in India. It was established in 1939 and was named after hunter and conservationist Jim Corbett.

It is famous for housing the Bengal Tiger, which is facing the threat of extinction. Both the tiger and leopard occupy the top berth in the cat family and whenever one infringes on the territory of the other, it leads to a dispute. (ANI)
