A first information report (FIR) has been registered against a Congress Member of Parliament (MP) from Porbandar in Gujarat who was caught on camera threatening employees of a toll plaza in Vadodara city with a gun.
Refusing to apologise, Vithal Radadiya, however, on Friday said he pointed the gun to the employees in self-defence even though no other person is seen anywhere near him on camera for most part.
According to reports, Radadiya´s car was stopped at a toll booth at Karjan village near Vadodara on Thursday.
A toll booth employee reportedly asked the MP to show his identification card.
Radadiya´s driver showed him a photocopy of it.
The MP reportedly came out of the car with his gun and pointed it to the employee when he asked to show the original identification card.
"I am an MP. I deserve respect," Radadiya told NDTV.
He said he grabbed the gun in self-defence as 15 people surrounded his car.
"I acted in self defence. Where is the police on a highway?" he said.
"When I got down I was called a bogus MP. If a person calls me a bogus MP, they say my card is false, what do I do?" he said.
