Bhopal: The five-year-old girl, who was allegedly raped by a 35-year-old man in Madhya Pradesh's Ghansour town, has been shifted to a private nursing home in Nagpur for further treatment.
Media reports on Sunday said that the minor was initially rushed to the medical college hospital in Jabalpur for treatment, where her condition deteriorated. She was then moved to the nursing home in Nagpur, Maharashtra by an air ambulance late on Saturday night.
She is being treated by a senior doctor at the private hospital at Ramdaspeth, hospital sources were quoted, as saying.
The man who raped the girl has been identified as Firoz Khan, who works at a private power plant. Firoz reportedly raped the five-year-old on April 17 after luring her away with a chocolate, police said. He then dumped her at a farm.
The parents of the girl found her in an unconscious state on April 18, following which she was taken to the Government Medical College, Jabalpur.
People in Ghansour town observed a shutdown on Saturday and submitted a memorandum to the sub divisional magistrate demanding the immediate arrest and strict action against the accused who is absconding.
Media quoted Ghansour Police Station in-charge R D Barti, as saying that a case under Section 363 (punishment for kidnapping), Section 366 (kidnapping, abducting or inducing woman) and Section 376 (punishment for rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered against Firoz Khan and police teams have been sent to Delhi and Bihar to trace him.
