Hyderabad: Normalcy returned to the flood affected areas of Andhra Pradesh as water receded from almost all places and relief and restoration works were in full swing.

The floods in the Krishna river finally subsided as the inflows and outflows into Srisailam, Nagarjuna Sagar and Prakasam barrage were below the danger levels, government officials said.

The breaches to the Right Flood Bank Canal of the Krishna at Oleru and canal bund near Repalle have been plugged. The breaches inundated Repalle but normalcy has returned to the town now as water has receded.

Power has been restored to five out of six flood affected towns, 486 of the 627 villages and to all 49 mandal headquarters, they said. The sanitation and restoration work in Kurnool is proving to be a tough task as the thick layer of silt which accumulated in the town has solidified.
