Foreign secretary Mathai to visit Sri Lanka

New Delhi, Oct 5 (IBNS) India' Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai, is scheduled to visit Sri Lanka from 8-10 October.

This would be his first visit to Sri Lanka, since he took over as Foreign Secretary in August, said the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Wednesday.

During the visit, the Foreign Secretary is scheduled to call on President of Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapaksa. He would also be meeting the Leader of Opposition, Ranil Wickremasinghe and representatives of the Tamil National Alliance.

The Foreign Secretary would hold discussions on bilateral relations, regional and global issues with his Sri Lankan counterpart Karunatillake Amunugama. He will also review developmental projects being taken up in various parts of Northern Sri Lanka under Government of India assistance.

The Foreign Secretary would also review the progress made during the meeting of the 4th India-Sri Lanka Joint Working Group (JWG) on Fisheries scheduled on 7th October in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
