Fortis offers comprehensive spine care

To make eastern India "free from back pain and related problems", Fortis Hospitals Kolkata launched a comprehensive spine care programme on Tuesday.

In this comprehensive spine care programme, all kinds of spine related problems will be treated.

Amitabha Chanda, Consultant Neuro Surgeon, Ujjwal K Debnath, Consultant Orthopedic and Spine Surgeon, Khetra Madhab Das, Consultant Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine, Krishna Poddar, consultant Pain therapist and Richa S. Debgupta, Facility Director, Fortis Hospitals were present at the occasion.

Actor Hiran Chatterjee was also present at the event.

Amitabha Chanda said, "Most of the spine disorder problem don't need operations and we try to cure them medically and avoid operations."

According to Khetramadhab Das "back problem should not be neglected at initial stage as it can turn into chronic, which increase morbidity and reduce productivity."

"Only injury and tumor in the spine need surgery and degenerative diseases do not need surgery." he added.



Fortis Hospital has also invited some of their patients to share their experience and case history, who had suffered from spinal problem and has been treated at Fortis.

Hiran,who was treated at Fortis Hospital also shared his experiences by saying, " I had fallen from 40 feet crane during shooting and was suffering from back problem. I went to Chennai but nothing effective happened. Then I went to Dr. Khetramadhab Das,who gave me a customized treatment."

The comprehensive spine programme will consist of a team of spine surgeons, physiatrist, pain therapist, physiotherapists, yoga therapist and clinical psychologist.

The cost of surgery will range from 60,000 to 3 Lakh, depending upon the type of surgery, type of diseases and length of recovery.
