Four injured in Assam explosion

Guwahati, Oct 29 (IBNS) : Four people were injured in a bomb explosion and firing incident in Assam on Monday, police said.

Two people including a minor boy was injured in a powerful explosion in Udalguri district on Monday evening.

"The bomb exploded near Udalguri railway station, where two people were injured," a police official said.

The injured were identified as Naresh Shah and Nakul Shah and they had been admitted at Udalguri civil hospital.

Security forces recovered a hand grenade from the explosion site.

"Suspected militants are behind the explosion," police said.

Senior police officials had rushed to the spot and launched search operation.

In another incident, two employees of Airtel mobile company were injured in a firing incident at Nagaon town on Monday evening.

The incident took place at Borbazar area in front of Airtel office, where two miscreants fired on the officials and fled.

The injured official duo were identified as Amrit Das and Partha Das and they were rushed to Nagaon civil hospital.
