Los Angeles, May 27 (DPA) The four-year-old daughter of boxer Mike Tyson has died after accidentally hanging herself from a power cord attached to a treadmill at the family's home in Phoenix in Arizona.
Police said Tuesday that Exodus Tyson was playing on the treadmill when her head got caught in the looped power cord.
'Either she slipped or put her head in the loop, but it acted like a noose, and she was obviously unable to get herself off of it,' police sergeant Andy Hill said.
She was discovered by her older brother and rushed to hospital where she was described in extremely critical condition.
Tyson rushed back from Las Vegas to Phoenix to be at his daughter's bedside. Several hours later the toddler was taken off life support.
'We are grateful for the tremendous outpouring of love and prayers from all over the world,' Tyson said in a statement. 'There are no words to describe the tragic loss of our beloved Exodus. We ask you now to please respect our need at this very difficult time for privacy to grieve and try to help each other heal.'
