Melbourne: Shravan Kumar, the 25-year-old Indian student whohad slipped into coma after being stabbed by a group of teenshere, is "out of danger" and has been taken off the lifesupport system, according to a leading community member whovisited the youth at the local hospital.
"He has come out of coma and moved his hands," said T JRao while giving an update on the condition of Kumar, who wasstabbed with a screwdriver on Sunday last in a brutal racialattack that had also left three of Indian friends injured.
"Kumar is out of life support, but doctors are still notvery sure about his full recovery," Rao, also the formerConsul General of India in Melbourne, said.
Rao, a leading community member, made these remarks aftervisiting the Royal Melbourne Hospital, where he met Kumar.Doctors attending on Kumar briefed Rao about the condition ofthe student.
Indian High Commissioner Sujata Singh and Consul Generalin Melbourne Anita Nayar had also visited Kumar recently inthe hospital.
Singh had then said that Kumar was being given the bestof medical treatment.
