Gambhir lauds bowlers for making IPL final

Pune, May 22 (IBNS) Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Gautam Gambhir lauded his bowlers for the team's 18-run win over Delhi Daredevils here Saturday that helped them qualify for their maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) final.

Knight Riders turned on a disciplined show to restrict Daredevils to 144 for eight in 20 overs after their batsmen made 162 for four in 20 overs.

Jacques Kallis and Sunil Narine bagged two wickets each giving 24 runs. Laskshmipathy Balaji, Shakib Al Hasan, Iqbal Abdulla and Rajat BHatia got a wicket each. .

"We always felt that it was a 140-145 wicket, but when we got 160, we thought it was an above par score. Not only about Kallis, all of them have bowled have bowled very well, lot of credit to all the bowlers including Balaji, Abdulla, Narine and others," said Gambhir.

Asked about Balaji's fitness, who pulled his hamstring, Gambhir said: "We have four days for Balaji to recover from the injury."

Daredevils skipper Virender Sehwag blamed a poor start for not able to chase down 132.

"We did not bat well, 160 was chase able. We lost two early wickets and failed to make it in the last few overs. Aaron and Yadav are bowling brilliantly, cannot sit them out, it was a tough choice but we thought that the grass might help the pace bowlers. We have another chance to get there, we cannot relax, need to go all out," he said.

Yusuf Pathan was adjudged Man of the Match for his unbeaten 41 off 21 balls.

"Always big hopes from me, not performing in the previous games, but I know that I can get going in a big match. I had a lot of time to get in and adjust myself to the track today. We are waiting for the big game, will relax and await for it eagerly," he said.
