German Bakery blast: Baig gets death

A Pune court on Thursday awarded death sentence to Indian Mujahideen (IM) operative Himayat Baig in connection to the 2010 German Bakery bomb blast case.

The court had convicted Baig in connection to the case on Monday.

Baig was arrested on Sept 7, 2010.

According to reports, the chargesheet filed in the court in connection with the blast has names of five other alleged conspirators, who are absconding - Mohsin Choudhary, Yasin Bhatkal, Riyaz Bhatkal, Iqbal Bhatkal and Faiyaz Kagzi.



The conspiracy of the blast was reportedly conceived at a meeting in Colombo in 2008.

The German bakery is located at Koregaon Park area in Pune city.

The blast killed 17 people and injured 64 others on Feb 13, 2010.
