New Delhi, Apr 29 (IBNS) A 16-member delegation led by German Health Minister Daniel Bahr, called on Union Health & Family Welfare Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad in New Delhi on Monday morning.
The German delegation included three Members of the Parliament and senior officers of the Government of Germany and leaders of private pharmaceutical sector.
The Indian delegation included Secretary (Health & Family Welfare), DGHS, AS&DG (CGHS) and Drug Controller General of India.
On his opening remarks, Azad welcomed the German delegation and recalled the assistance given by Germany to India for various projects in health sector.
He specifically mentioned about the assistance given by KfW for the polio eradication initiative and for the preparation of design of Rashtriya Swasth Bima Yojana.
He also thanked Germany for its support in Indo-German Social Security Programme.
Azad informed visiting dignitary that India pharma industry is rapidly growing sector and in volume of exports, it stands at number three in the world. "India produces affordable drugs at the highest quality and export medicines to more than 200 countries and vaccines to about 150 nations across the globe."
