In an attempt to grab the vast market of smartphones in Eastern India, Gionee aims to become one of the biggest brands in the smartphone industry.
Gionee, a mainland China company, has unveiled GPad-G1, its new smartphone, here. The smartphone was launched by Miss Universe India 2010, Ushoshi Sengupta.
The smartphone promises to provide its users Android experience with v4.0 Ice cream sandwich OS, provided on a 5 inch display with capacitive multi touch interface.
The phone is powered by a 1 GHz advanced Cortex A9 Dual Core processor.
The phone comes with an 8 Mega Pixel Auto Focus, Auto panorama, LED flash enabled back camera, along with additional features including face detection. It also provides the HD video recording and front facing VGA camera option.
The Dual Sim, Dual standby supported GPad-G1 operates on 2100 mAh battery. It has in-built 3D stereo surround acoustic design that helps the listeners enjoy a clear music.
The smartphone comes with an in-built 4 GB memory which is expandable upto 32 GB. It will be available in Graphite Black and White colour.
As a part of the inaugural offer the smartphone would also include a flip cover and 8 GB memory card. The phone costs Rs/- 10,999.
Gionee has set its footprints in the Middle East, Northern Africa, Vietnam, Taiwan, Myanmar, Thailand and now in India.
Gionee operates its overseas business through Syntech (HK) Technology Private Limited in New Delhi. The company has a partner in India, United Teleservices Ltd.

Syntech Technology Pvt Ltd, Arvind Vohra and Vice Director of Overseas Depertment, Gionee, Chen Lei were present on the occasion.
Speaking at the occasion, Sajal Roy said, "We are excited to be partnering with Gionee in East India. The USP of GPad-G1 is the proposition in totality. The phone´s features are unmatched in its genere."
Addressing the media Roy asserted, "In West Bengal, we have 42 working service centres including 8 operating in Kolkata and its suburbs."
"We currently rank No. 2 in Mainland China. We expect to be one of the top 5 companies in India in recent future", Vohra claimed.
Vohra also said, "Gionee is living upto its name, which means ´Golden Quality´. We also take care of the social aspect by providing money for underpriviledged children of Leukemia. When you buy a Gionee phone, Rs/-10 from your money instantly get credited within the fund of an NGO, called Leukemia Crusaders."
Chan Lei said, "The company has set benchmarks by selling over 23 million units annually in China. We have an investment of US$160 million in China and 8,000 employees. Gionee plans to expand its workplace upto 330,000 square meters. Once completed, we will be able to produce 80 million units annually."
