Panaji, June 23 (IBNS) Goa police have written to its Bihar counterparts seeking information about a youth from whom a teenage girl is over three months' pregnant.

Agassaim police said the 15-year-old girl has named the person who allegedly raped her, back at their native place in Bihar. Both are known to each other for over a year.

"She was taken to Goa medical college at Bambolim for a check up after she complained of stomach pain. The doctors found she was pregnant and informed the police," said a police officer. The victim recently came to Goa to meet her brother who is a daily wager.

More than five incidents of crime against women and minors were reported at different police stations across the state, last week.

Last Friday, the Panaji police registered an offence against one Mohammad Nazeer for allegedly raping a woman here. The accused hails from Andhra Pradesh.

Another offence at Calangute, a popular tourist hub was reported Saturday wherein a 55-year-old manager of a starred resort was arrested for sexually assaulting his employee, aged 18 years. Vikas Sharma is charged with spiking the drink of the victim and allegedly misbehaved with her at an isolated place.

Since the hotel management failed to take action on her complaint, she approached an NGO that helped her to file a case with the Calangute police station and get the accused arrested.

At Margao in South Goa, a school bus caretaker Leo Diniz was arrested for molesting a KG student in the bus while en route to her home.

Goa Governor Bharat Vir Wanchoo, during the Goa revolution day function, had expressed concern over increasing incidents of crime against the fairer sex.

"We need to find a stable solution to this perplexing problem, sooner rather than later. Social evils like this tend to create fear and insecurity amongst the people and particularly our women fold and tarnish the fair image of state in particular, and the country on the whole," he had said.
