The Election Commission of India (ECI) is miffed with the state administration over the latter's supposed partisan stance towards a government officer who is facing suspension order for violating election code of conduct.

Chief Election Commissioner S Y Qureshi, who is in Goa to review preparedness for the March 3 Goa Assembly polls, warned the administration officials not to challenge ECI's order.

The ECI had recommended suspending State Animal husbandry & Veterinary Services Director Siddhivinayak Naik for violating the code by distributing 140 job letters through the department.

"Nobody should defy ECI's order," Qureshi warned.

To another code violation case by Congress legislator and Goa Cricket Association President Dayanand Narvekar, the ECI Chief said they are legally examining the case.

Narvekar is accused of distributing cricket kits to various sporting clubs through the association thus violating the code of conduct. Two social activists had filed a complaint against him before the ECI.

The ECI officials on Wednesday met five political parties and had discussion on voters list, use of money during polls, paid news, enforcement of code of conduct, political interference and other issues.
