Panaji, Feb 02 (IBNS) Avoiding further clash with the Election Commission of India (ECI), the Goa government finally suspended Class I Officer Siddhivinayak Naik for violating the model code of conduct.
The order was issued by the ex-officio joint secretary and additional Vigilance Director Sunil Masurkar after the ECI turned down the state administration's request to reconsider the recommendation for suspending Naik.
Naik, Director of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, is accused of doling out 140 appointment letters through his department in violation of the code. The inquiry report had proven him guilty of code violation.
The officer is likely to face further disciplinary action and the suspension order has directed him to report to the Personnel department until further orders.
