Panaji, Jan 24 (IBNS) Notorious people would be under strict vigil as Goa police will impose stringent National Security Act (NSA) on anti-social elements from Wednesday onwards in view of the fast approaching Goa Legislative Assembly elections slated on March 3.

An aerial survey is likely to start in the coming days.

Superintendent of Police, North Goa, Waman Tari said that they have identified 81 trouble makers who would be booked under NSA.

"While some will be externed, others would be kept under vigil. All history sheeters are listed and numbered," Tari said.

The department took up this major exercise of compiling complete profile of each criminal to curb their movements at the time of election.

Depending on the gravity of cases against these criminals, Tari said, they will either face arrest or externment from the jurisdiction.

District Collector Mihir Vardhan said that his office has forwarded the three applications received under NSA back to the police to strengthen the case.

A committee, headed by retired high court judge Justice R M Khandeparkar, is already formed under NSA where the accused can appeal against the order.

The election officials have already identified vulnerable polling stations.
