Gogoi sends ministers to violence zone

Amid reports of fresh violence in Assam's Kokrajhar district, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has sent six ministers to the troubled area to ensure peace.

Media reports said six ministers would tour through the lower Assam region and try to ensure peace.

The Bajrang Dal has also called a bandh in Assam on Monday to demand safety of Northeast people across India after many of them started leaving cities like Bangalore, Hyderabad and Pune following real threats and rumours of possible attacks.

There was fresh violence in lower Assam´s Kokrajhar where some people, including a child, were injured when they had returned to home from camp.

The incident took place at Salakati railway station road in the district under BTAD on Sunday morning when miscreants attacked the victims who returned to their home.

The injured persons were admitted to Kokrajhar and Bongaigaon civil hospital.

On Aug 25, five people were killed by miscreants in Chirang district.

Meanwhile, a body was found in Chirang district on Sunday.

Indefinite curfew has been imposed in Chirang district.

On other hand, several people of relief camps and organisations blockaded the national highway in Chirang district on Sunday and demanded to impose Presidential rule in Assam.

The Assam Chief Minister on Sunday instructed to the security forces and administrations to take stern action against miscreants after five people were killed in Chirang district.
