New Delhi: Global investment bank Goldman Sachs has predicted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has a possibility to win the Lok Sabha elections next year.
"Equity investors tend to view the BJP as business-friendly, and BJP's PM Narendra Modi as an agent of change. Current polls show Modi and the BJP faring well in the five upcoming state elections, which are considered lead indicators for the general election next year," Goldman Sachs said in a report.
Reacting to the report, Union Commerce Minister and Congress leader Anand Sharma slammed the bank and said it is 'messing around with India's domestic politics'.
"I think banks such as Goldman Sachs should stay focused only on doing what they claim to specialise in Goldman is parading its ignorance about the basic facts of Indian economy; and it also exposes its eagerness to mess around with India's domestic politics," Sharma said in an interview to Economic Times.
