
Popular search engine Google celebrated the 84th birthday of Robert Norton Noyce, who had co-founded Fairchild Semiconductor and Intel Corporation.
Noyce, who was nicknamed "the Mayor of Silicon Valley", was born on December 12, 1927 in Burlington, Iowa.
He along with Jack Kilby invented the integrated circuit or microchip which fueled the personal computer revolution and gave Silicon Valley its name.
Google users on Monday could find an animated picture of a microchip with the word ´Google´ written in it. The doodle nicely depicts the contribution Noyce in the world of information technology.
Google regularly present to the users colourful doodles to observe birth anniversaries of important personalities and significant dates.
