Maria Montessori (August 31, 1870 - May 6, 1952) is best remembered for reforming education with her efforts.
She was also known for her humanitarian qualities as she helped a lot of mentally disabled children by assisting them in their tasks.
She carried out her research work in schools and eventually developed her own educational model based on scientific principles. Today her 'scientific pedagogy' is practised in schools across the world.
Her model was based on giving children the liberty to choose and carry out activities of their choices in an educational environment. Her model was based on giving paramount importance to honing a child's creative faculties.
Montessori had even visited India to offer lectures at various universities.
