Pennsylvania's Republican candidate for U.S. Senate headed into the final month of the campaign with $2.2 million to spend.
A report that congressional campaigns are required to file with the government Friday said Pat Toomey spent $6 million in the July-to-September period. His campaign raised $3.7 million.
Democrat Joe Sestak hasn't yet disclosed his campaign finances for the period.
Toomey and Sestak are in a fiercely competitive race to replace five-term Sen. Arlen Specter.
Sestak defeated Specter in the May primary and isn't running for re-election to his suburban Philadelphia congressional seat.
Toomey is a businessman who also served three terms in the U.S. House representing the Allentown area. Sestak is a retired Navy admiral.
The election is Nov. 2.
