Govt seeks your suggestions to amend rape laws

​In response to the Delhi gang rape, the government has instituted a committee to analyze and submit recommendations for making changes to the current laws regarding rape and sexual assaults.

The government is looking for suggestions on how to enhance punishment and get such cases moved through the judicial system faster.

The committee is being headed by a former Chief Justice of India, J. S. Verma and consists of two other eminent jurists - Justice Leila Shah and Shri Gopal Subramanian.

The committee was formed on the 23rd of December and is expected to submit its recommendations within 30 days.

The committee is trying to collect a wide range of ideas and suggestions. To that effect, they have invited the public to email them suggestions.

Please treat this request with the seriousness it deserves and send across any meaningful suggestion, with the framework of the law, which you can think of.
