Vadodara: Liquor baron Vijay Mallya continued to face backlash from various sections of the society for his statement blaming the prohibition policy in Gujarat for death of over 120 people due to consumption of the spurious brew.

While a former MP demanded his arrest, an angry NGO burnthis effigy shouting slogans against him.

Manubhai Patel, freedom fighter and former MP, criticised Vijay Mallya of UB group for asking Gujarat government to lift prohibition in the state.

He also demanded arresting Mallya for promoting is own liquor business.

Mallya should not be allowed to enter Gujarat, he said and urged the Centre to use directive principal of the Constitution for implementing prohibition policy in all the states and union territories.

Meanwhile, workers of city-based Navjivan Chetna Seva Trust, an NGO on Sunday burnt the effigy of Mallya shouting anti-Mallaya slogans.

Mallya had blamed the prohibition policy in the state for death of people in the hooch tragedy.
