US rejects Hafiz Saeed's humanitarian aid for Sandy victims

Washington: Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed, who is believed to be the mastermind behind the 2008 Mumbai attacks, has agreed to cooperate with India's National Investigation Agency, which is expected to carry out inquiries in Pakistan into the deadly attacks.

Saeed said he has offered to cooperate with investigations, and that he has also written letters to the U.N. and the European Union in attempts to clear his name, reports The Nation.

"I condemn Mumbai attack and the innocent lives that have been lost. I don't support this attack or any violence of this kind, but you don't even seem to believe me; I've said it so many times," Saeed was quoted as telling CNN.

Saeed, who has a 10 million dollar U.S. bounty on his head, recently made headlines after he offered humanitarian aid to U.S. victims in the wake of Superstorm Sandy- an offer that was quickly rejected by Washington.

Saeed, who agreed to the interview with the Western news organization, said he did so only because he wanted to talk about his offer to Sandy's victims.

"We have differences with the American government's policies, but the American people are only human; we are all human. It's not their fault," Saeed told CNN. (ANI)
