The mother of the five-year-old rape victim, who died at a Nagpur hospital, on Tuesday said the accused should be hanged publicly.
The girl was brutally raped by a 35-year-old man at Ghansore town in Madhya Pradesh´s Seoni district earlier this month.
"He should be hanged publicly," the victim´s mother told media.
The girl had been shifted to the hospital in Nagpur in an air ambulance for better treatment but she died at around 7.45 pm on Monday.
The police had last week arrested the man accused of raping the girl from Bihar.
The man, identified as Firoz Khan, was arrested from a relative´s home in Bihar´s Bhagalpur district.
The police reportedly intercepted the accused via his cell phone signals that suggested him to be in a village in Bihar.
Last week Khan´s aide in the crime was arrested, who was accused of luring the girl with a chocolate.
The girl was in a coma with severe brain injuries and was not responding to treatment.
The girl from a small village near Seoni was kidnapped by a local resident and raped by another man.
