The Srinagar-Jammu national highway (NH 1A) was closed on Friday due to heavy snowfall in the region.
The NH 1A is the lifeline for locals as it connects the summer capital Srinagar with the winter capital Jammu. It is a busy highway with trucks and lorries carrying commodities of daily use.
Tourists and locals stranded in mid-way said that they are facing major problems due to the shutdown of national highway.
"We had left Jammu at 2:30 in the morning and we reached Khurd at 5 a.m. but the driver dropped us at Khurd and refused to go ahead," said Muzaffar ahmed shah, a local.
Unending queue of vehicles stranded on the highway were seen with travellers carrying their luggage with great difficulty as the situation compelled them to walk to their destination. (ANI)
