HeidelbergCement India increases capacity

New Delhi, Feb 18 (IBNS) HeidelbergCement India Limited, a leading cement manufacturer in India, on Monday said it has expanded its clinker manufacturing capacity from 1.2 to 3.1 mtpa and cement grinding capacity from 1.0 to 2.0 mtpa at its Narsingarh and Imlai units in Damoh (M.P.) respectively.

With the new capacity going on stream, the Company has completed its more than INR 1500 crore expansion project to raise its all India production capacity from 3.1 to 6 mtpa. It recently announced expansion of cement capacity from 0.8 to 2.7 mtpa at its Jhansi cement grinding plant in Uttar Pradesh, India.

The company has added 5000 TPD clinker line at its Narsingarh unit as part of the expansion plan. It has added new ball mill and modified existing ball mills apart from installing new packer at the Imlai grinding unit to enhance packing and dispatch capacities.

The company successfully conducted trial runs of the new capacity before production commencement during Dec'12 and Jan'13. Plant & Machinery was supplied by renowned FL Smidth group of Denmark (FLS) and civil construction work was undertaken by Larsen and Toubro Limited.

One of the major highlights of the project is the construction of India's longest Overland Belt Conveyor (OLBC) to reduce dependence on road transport and cut transportation costs of limestone from the mines at Patharia, Damoh to the Narsingarh clinkerisation unit.

The company has also installed new crusher with capacity of 1200 TPH and set-up around 20 kms long 33 KV power transmission line for the Patharia mines. 38 Kms long 132 KV Power transmission line from Damoh to Narsingarh unit is another highlight of the project.

With the commissioning of new manufacturing and grinding capacity in MP and UP, Heidelberg Cement India expects to increase its market share in Central India, and also increase deliveries in other markets including Bihar, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Uttarakhand.
