Florida, Feb 18 (IBNS) A new Hindu temple, Sri Shiva Durga Devi Mandir, has reportedly opened up in Lehigh Acres in Florida (USA).
It will fulfill the longstanding religious and spiritual needs of the Hindus of Lehigh Acres, Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Labelle and other surrounding communities and provide a place to "worship in peace". Hindus of the area come from India, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Suriname, etc.
Meanwhile, Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) on Saturday, applauded efforts of temple-project leaders and Southwest Florida area community to realize this ´wonderful´ Hindu temple.
Organization to launch this temple was reportedly launched in 2007. Mandir's mission is: To promote and extend the warm hand of love and comfort. People associated with this Mandir include Kent I. Singh, Vishnu Hanoman, Leloutie Lilwah, Ramesh Ramrattan, Ramnaprine Behdas and Genmatty Premdas.
Lehigh Acres in Lee County (Florida) was settled in 1954. John E. Manning is Lee County Commission Chair while Karen B. Hawes is County Manager.
