Jaipur: A sweeper in a government hospital allegedly cut a one-year-old boy's little finger in a bid to remove a tube from his hand in Barmer, police said on Tuesday.

The incident occurred on Monday in the government district hospital when a sweeper brought a scissor to cut the tube and unknowingly cut the boy's finger, they said, adding, that the finger was not separated. However, another report -- contradicting the claims of the police -- said that the sweeper had cut the finger off and had even thrown it away.

The parents of the hospitalized boy were requesting doctor to discharge the boy since they had a function at their home, police said.

Since the boy was not well, the doctor on duty refused to discharge him.

No case has been lodged in this connection, police said. The boy, who is suffering from fever, is still in hospital, they said.
