Chennai:  Pramod Muthalik , the chief accused in the Mangalore pub attack case, is the head of  Shri Ram Sene,  a self-proclaimed pro-Hindu non-profit organisation with an agenda to “serve the society and prevent bad behaviour”.

The Sene also boasts of a suicide squad to take on Islamist jihadis and Muthalik even held a press meet in Bangalore to release the photographs of the members of Hindu suicide squad undergoing training in handling arms and ammunition.

"I am not a terrorist. Even the government is taking our help to bust Islamic terror cells in Karnataka, Goa and Maharashtra," he claimed at the press meet.

 Known for his close links with Hindu fundamentalist organisations in Maharashtra, Muthalik was the Karnataka chief of the Shiv Sena earlier but parted ways with them over the Belgaum border issue.

He fielded candidates against the BJP in the 2008 Assembly elections but lost.

His involvement in the Malegaon blasts are also being probed following the Sene connection of the main accused in the Hubli  blast, Nagaraj Jambagi. Jambagi was an active member of the Shri Ram Sene and was reported to be a right hand of Muthalik.
