Rukhsana Kausar, the 21-year-old had shot into fame after gunning down oneLashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant and injuring another on September 27, Tuesdaysaid she is fearing her life in Jammu and Kashmir.
“I fear my life in Jammu and Kashmir andwant the Centre to give me and my family proper protection,” Kausar toldreporters on Tuesday.
Incidentally, Kausar has also declinedthe offer for joining J&K police as Special Police Officer (SPO).
“I don’t want a job in Jammu, but inDelhi. The Centre has to give me a job in the capital…we will be safer there.It’s not that I want to leave my house at Rajouri district in J&K, butafter that incident, I am sure the terrorists will target me and my family,”Kausar said.
On September 27, some LeT militantsbarged into her house and tried to abduct Rukhsana. She fought with them, snatchedan AK 47 from one of them and shot him dead. She also injured another militantwhile the latter was fleeing.
Rukhsana's bravery had earned her praisefrom all quarters including President Pratibha Patil, Prime Minister ManmohanSingh and Home Minister P Chidambaram. The Centre has announced a bravery awardfor her.
